Yes chaps its that much awaited tutorial i have been promising (might do this as a youtube video when my plate clears)
Item One
you will require something to record - the easiest method would be to record some footage in game - open console (button ` on British keyboards), then type "/record filename" (without the "quote marks" and filename can be anything you want, ie AIRSTRIEK1, HACKERS, pupmix02)
Item Two
When you have finished you recording (i don't know maybe you have a hilarious piece of a spammer using the SAW in backlot)
type "/stoprecord" (again, without the "quote marks") to finish. The lower left corner of the screen will display the size of the file during the recording. Now the demo files will be found in "Call Of Duty 4/main/demos" folder (for me its in C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty 4\main)
Item Three
Not at this point this is where most tutorials "break down" as in post-patch1.4 for COD4. The way it is supposed to work is that you type "/demo filename" in the console. However we will be using a most excellent 3rd program called "COD4PLAYER" (http://www.cybopat.net/vb_cod4player_eng.php). Download and unpack it.
Item Four
Run COD4PLAYER - It might sound daft but your almost done - click the open demo button - it will link you straight to the demo files in a explorer folder, select the file and click open, this will launch the game.
Item Five
Enjoy your playback - I assume most people will be using FRAPS / XFIRE / WEGAME for extraction of the video. However to help control your playback, the keypad holds 12 very useful commands.
